WSCHS Provides Services at Project Homeless Connect (Jun. 19th, 2008)
The St. Paul-Ramsey County Project Homeless Connect, an annual event that provides a “one-stop shop” model of support and services to people experiencing homelessness, was held on Tuesday, June 10th at the RiverCenter. Project Homeless Connect began in San Francisco in 2004 and has grown into a national best practice with great potential for getting people off the streets and into housing.
West Side Community Health Services’ Health Care for the Homeless program was well represented at the event, and services made available included HIV testing, Women’s Health, dental screening, eye exams and various health promotion activities such as BP/BS, CD assessments and Healing Touch. Using available information, the number of people served by WSCHS’ offerings at the event – 841 services were provided to 363 people. A big thanks goes out to the WSCHS team: Mario Villeda-Maldonado, Patricia Brown, Louise Miles, Lynn Anderson, Bla Yang, Lupe Garcia and all the staff and volunteers on the HCH/HC team. Everyone worked really hard and with great kindness and made some amazing things happen for those in need. Thank you!
